The official guidelines, jointly signed by the Lagos State APC Chairman, Pastor Cornelius Ojelabi, and Secretary, Dr. Adeola Jokomba, outline the financial obligations of aspirants and were made public on Tuesday.

As per the released document, male contenders for the chairmanship post are to pay a ₦5 million nomination fee and an additional ₦500,000 administrative charge. Female candidates, however, are granted a 50% reduction on the nomination fee, bringing it to ₦2.5 million, while the administrative charge remains the same.

In a bid to foster youth participation, the party introduced a 50% discount on the nomination fee for individuals below 40 years of age, though the administrative fee of ₦500,000 remains applicable. For persons with disabilities, the APC completely waived the nomination fee and fixed a reduced administrative charge of ₦250,000.

For councillorship aspirants, male candidates are required to pay ₦1 million for nomination and ₦100,000 as an administrative fee. Female aspirants are to pay ₦250,000 for the nomination form, with the administrative charge unchanged. Youths interested in councillorship will also benefit from a 50% cut in the nomination fee, while persons with disabilities will receive nomination forms free of charge, paying only ₦50,000 as an administrative fee.

The party clarified that no separate fee is required for the Vice Chairmanship role, and all payments must be made via bank draft to the APC Lagos State account.

Regarding eligibility, chairmanship aspirants must be at least 30 years old, while councillorship contenders must have attained the age of 25. Minimum academic qualifications include a secondary school certificate or its equivalent, though higher educational credentials are considered an added advantage.

Additionally, aspirants must provide party membership evidence, demonstrate consistent support for the APC, and pledge loyalty through a portfolio and the party’s code of conduct. All aspirants are subject to a screening process, and only those cleared by the Screening Committee will be allowed to participate in the party primaries.

The APC also reminded that any serving party official seeking elective office must resign from their current role at least 30 days before the primary or election. Aspirants are expected to comply fully with all constitutional criteria governing the offices they aim to occupy.
