Rivers Administrator Slams Tunde Bakare for Spreading Division During Easter
Rivers State Sole Administrator, Vice Admiral Ibok-Ete Ibas (Rtd.), has criticized Pastor Tunde Bakare for using the Easter period to make divisive remarks, rather than promoting peace.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶
Speaking through his media aide, Hector Igbikiowubo, Ibas described Bakare’s recent comments as unhelpful, particularly at a time when Rivers State is navigating a challenging period. The statement followed Bakare’s condemnation of President Bola Tinubu’s leadership, where he accused the administration of authoritarian tendencies, citing the declaration of a state of emergency in Rivers State as a troubling example.
Bakare, founder of the Global Community Citadel Church, had also labeled the National Assembly as “the most spineless in Nigeria’s history” for endorsing the President’s actions.
In response, Igbikiowubo stated that such remarks serve no constructive purpose and detract from efforts to restore stability in Rivers State. He emphasized that the administration remains focused on its responsibilities and will not be distracted by public figures seeking attention.
“The Easter season should be a time for unity and reflection,” Igbikiowubo said. “Unfortunately, Pastor Bakare has chosen instead to stoke tensions and disrupt peace-building efforts. This is not the conduct expected of a religious leader.”
He also questioned Bakare’s relevance and past political aspirations, subtly downplaying his influence: “I don’t know this pastor, and the government will not waste time responding to his provocations. He was once a vice presidential candidate, but evidently did not succeed. Nigeria is filled with thousands of religious leaders; not all choose the path of provocation.”
The Rivers State government urged Bakare and others in positions of spiritual and public authority to use their platforms responsibly, promoting harmony rather than division. Igbikiowubo concluded that Bakare’s recent comments do more harm than good and called for all leaders to prioritize national unity, especially during spiritually significant periods like Easter.

Atiku Opens Up On ADC 2027 Game Plan, Says Consensus Candidate Comes First.
Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar has said the African Democratic Congress (ADC) will first pursue a consensus arrangement before considering a primary election for its 2027 presidential ticket.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶
Atiku made this known during an interview on Arise Television on Wednesday while discussing the party’s leadership and strategy ahead of the next general election.
He said he is open to backing a consensus candidate if that becomes the party’s collective decision, stressing that such support should not be interpreted as stepping aside.
“It is not about stepping aside, but whether I am willing to support, and yes, I will,” Atiku said.
According to him, the ADC’s first priority is to build internal unity and reach an agreement among stakeholders before considering a competitive primary process.
“Our first option will be to work out a consensus. If that doesn’t happen, then of course we will explore other options. And yes, I will support whoever eventually emerges,” he stated.
Atiku also expressed confidence in the political experience within the party, saying he believes a consensus is achievable and may make a full-scale primary contest unnecessary.
“That remains our preferred path. We will go for primaries if consensus fails, but I honestly do not expect it to get to that stage because we are dealing with mature and experienced politicians,” he added.
His comments come amid growing political consultations and coalition talks as parties begin to position themselves ahead of the 2027 general elections.
