Ndidi Faces Relegation Again as Leicester City Fall to Liverpool

Published

on

Super Eagles midfielder Wilfred Ndidi has once again experienced the heartbreak of relegation, as his club Leicester City were demoted from the Premier League for the second time in two seasons.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶

Leicester’s latest fall from the top flight was confirmed on Sunday, April 20, following a narrow 1-0 loss to Liverpool at the King Power Stadium. Despite Ndidi’s efforts, the Foxes were unable to stop the determined title contenders from claiming all three points.

The match’s decisive moment came in the second half when Trent Alexander-Arnold, coming off the bench, netted the only goal, boosting Liverpool’s tally to 79 points. This result places the Reds within reach of their 20th league title, needing just one more victory—potentially against Tottenham Hotspur next weekend at Anfield—to secure the crown.

For Leicester City, the loss was particularly damaging. With only 18 points from 33 matches and just five games remaining, their relegation is now mathematically confirmed.

One of the most glaring issues throughout Leicester’s dismal season has been their inability to score at home, having now failed to register a goal in nine consecutive Premier League home games. Their last home goal dates back to December 8, in a match against Brighton.

Ndidi and Leicester now face a difficult road ahead as they prepare for another season in the Championship, grappling with both poor form and a loss of top-tier status.

The loss at Old Trafford has intensified scrutiny of Carrick as Manchester United continue to struggle with inconsistent performances and results this season.

According to football transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, who shared the manager’s comments on X on Sunday, Carrick acknowledged the uncertainty surrounding his future but maintained that he would continue carrying out his duties as usual.

“I totally understand the situation. I’m not expecting anything in particular, to be honest. I’m carrying on as normal and, you know, I love this place,” he said.

The former Manchester United midfielder also reaffirmed his commitment to the club, insisting that he would continue to act in what he considers the team’s best interests despite the mounting pressure.

Bournemouth’s victory further compounded United’s recent difficulties, marking their third defeat in four home matches and extending their winless run across all competitions to eight games.

Meanwhile, reports indicate that co-owner Sir Jim Ratcliffe and other senior club officials are considering possible replacements as they assess Carrick’s future at Old Trafford.

Former Bayern Munich manager Julian Nagelsmann and ex-Newcastle United boss Eddie Howe have reportedly emerged as leading candidates for the position.

However, Manchester United director of football Jason Wilcox and chief executive Omar Berrada are expected to make the final recommendation before presenting their preferred candidate to Ratcliffe.

The club has yet to announce any decision regarding Carrick’s future, leaving uncertainty over who will lead the team into their next Premier League fixture against Chelsea.

Don’t Get Carried Away’ – Mourinho Warns Real Madrid After Barcelona Triumph

José Mourinho has cautioned Real Madrid against becoming complacent following their 2-1 victory over Barcelona at Camp Nou on Sunday, October 25, stressing that winning the La Liga title remains the club’s primary objective.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶

Kylian Mbappé scored twice, including a late winner, to end Barcelona’s perfect start to the league campaign and move Real Madrid to within three points of their rivals at the top of the table.

Reacting to the victory, Mourinho urged the team to remain focused and avoid getting carried away by their success in the El Clásico encounter.

“In my view, Real Madrid do not play to win at the Camp Nou… Real Madrid play to win La Liga. This must be the mentality. We need to continue like this and don’t go over the moon after this win,” Mourinho said.

The Portuguese manager commended his players for their composure and collective performance, maintaining that the victory was earned through their quality and hard work rather than luck.

“We could win with luck, but we won with calmness and with all merit. It’s a very strong group. Everyone works very hard. Everyone was ready to win,” he added.

Mourinho also highlighted the strength and balance of Real Madrid’s midfield, noting that the combination of players with different qualities had improved the team’s performance in both attack and defence.

He further warned that the triumph over Barcelona would mean little if the team failed to sustain its high standards in subsequent matches, emphasising that consistency would be vital in the race for the league title.

Mbappé gave Real Madrid the lead in the 41st minute after Barcelona failed to clear the ball effectively. Raphinha equalised for the hosts in the 61st minute before the French forward struck again in the 87th minute, converting an assist from substitute Eduardo Camavinga to secure the victory.
