Tragic Collision in Akure Claims Three Lives, Sparks Violent Protests

Three individuals tragically lost their lives over the weekend in a horrific crash between a commercial tricycle and a truck in Akure, Ondo State.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶

The accident occurred at the Itagbanja area of Oke-Aro along Idanre Road, Akure South Local Government Area. Among the victims were a couple, though their identities had not been confirmed by the time of reporting.

Eyewitnesses blamed reckless driving by both the tricyclist and the truck driver for the tragic incident. Two victims died at the scene, while the third passed away from injuries while being rushed to the hospital.

The crash sparked outrage in the community, leading to an attempt by local youths and residents to attack the truck driver. The driver fled the scene but later turned himself in at the ‘B’ Division Police Station in Oke-Aro.

Upon learning of his surrender, the angry crowd gathered outside the station, throwing stones and demanding justice for the victims.

The bodies of the deceased have been transferred to the mortuary, and the police have opened an investigation into the incident, as confirmed by the Police Public Relations Officer in Ondo, Olayinka Ayanlade.
