Chidinma Ojukwu, the prime suspect in the murder of Super TV CEO, Michael Usifo Ataga, provided emotional testimony before the Lagos High Court, recounting how she discovered Ataga’s lifeless body in a Lekki apartment.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶

Testifying before Justice Yetunde Adesanya, the former 300-level Mass Communication student at the University of Lagos described how, upon returning to the apartment on June 15, 2021, with food and juice, she found the door locked. After knocking and receiving no response, she opened the door to find Ataga lying in a pool of blood with visible blood splatter across the room.

“I dropped everything and rushed to him,” she told the court, explaining that his eyes were half-closed and he showed no signs of life.

Under the examination of her lawyer, Mr. Onwuka Egwu, Chidinma recounted her relationship with Ataga, which started in November 2020 through a mutual connection. She described Ataga as generous, revealing that he had financially supported her education and business.

She testified that Ataga invited her to spend time with him for his birthday week in June 2021, suggesting they rent an apartment in Lekki due to ongoing renovations at his Victoria Garden City residence. She arranged a short-let apartment at 19 Adewale Street, where they met on June 13, ate out, drank wine, and smoked together.

On June 14, Ataga allegedly asked her to procure cannabis and rohypnol, for which he sent N15,000. He later transferred an additional N25,000 for food. The following day, June 15, he again requested more drugs but lacked funds, prompting her to cover the purchase herself. He gave her cash for food and juice, but due to delays with the food vendor, she returned late—only to find him dead.

Visibly shaken, she explained that after confirming his lack of a pulse, she cleaned herself up, changed clothes, and packed some of her belongings, including a brown envelope containing Ataga’s bank documents, ID cards, and some items belonging to one Mary Johnson. She also took jewelry and exited the premises via a cab.

The court adjourned the trial to April 28, 2025, for further proceedings.

reports that the party said the President should be “scared” of possible defeat, pointing to rising inflation, unemployment, debt burden, and worsening security across the country.

The party argued that the President’s remarks reflected a disconnect from the struggles of ordinary Nigerians, saying leadership should focus on solving hardship rather than politics.

According to the statement: “What Nigerians saw was not the confidence of a leader in control, but the anxiety of a President increasingly disconnected from reality.”

The ADC said issues such as food inflation, cost of living, and insecurity remain top concerns for citizens, while kidnappings and violence continue in many parts of the country.

It also faulted the President for allegedly prioritising political commentary over addressing national challenges.

The party dismissed claims that its national convention was poorly held, insisting such narratives were misleading and blamed restrictions on public venues for opposition gatherings.

It further accused the government of shrinking democratic space and weakening key institutions, including the legislature.

The ADC maintained that the worsening economic and security situation would strongly influence voters in 2027, adding that it is preparing to present a credible alternative focused on governance and recovery.

Abdulkarim further stated that ADC members should consider supporting a joint ticket between Peter Obi and former Kano State Governor Rabiu Kwankwaso, pointing to their strong grassroots followership.

He said: “Atiku will be 80 years old next year. We don’t want to defeat him… we know he is not going to win, so we are giving him a soft landing to withdraw from the ADC presidential primary so he can look good in the eyes of young Nigerians.

“That way, his name can be honoured by his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Timing is everything in politics, and this is the time of the South. Age is not on his side.

“We have very strong movements—the Obidient movement and the Kwankwassiyya movement. Those around him are not telling him what they are supposed to be telling him.”
