Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan, who represents Kogi Central Senatorial District, has confirmed an attack on her family residence in Obeiba-Ihima, Kogi State. In a statement issued on Thursday by her Chief Press Secretary, Arogbonlo Israel, the senator condemned the attack and suggested it may have been politically motivated. The assault, he said, appears to be a direct retaliation following Senator Akpoti-Uduaghan’s recent accusations of sexual harassment against Senate President Godswill Akpabio.

“Armed men stormed the home, shattering windows in the property belonging to the senator’s grandfather,” the statement noted. “Fortunately, prompt intervention by security forces and community members repelled the attackers. No injuries were reported, and a police report has since been filed.”

Providing further context, the senator recounted that two days prior to the attack, her younger brother had taken contractors to inspect proposed project sites in the community. The gunmen, mistaking his presence for hers, carried out the night-time raid.

Calling on law enforcement authorities to take immediate action, the statement urged the Inspector General of Police to reinstate Senator Akpoti-Uduaghan’s security personnel.

“This cowardly attack cannot deter her from serving her constituents or speaking truth to power,” the statement concluded. “The public is encouraged to stay calm and support the pursuit of justice.”

The incident has raised concerns about the safety of lawmakers and escalating political tensions in the country.

Maduka Okoye made history on Saturday after recording his 10th clean sheet of the Serie A season, becoming the first Nigerian goalkeeper since Vincent Enyeama 11 years ago to achieve that feat in any of Europe’s top five leagues.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶

The milestone came as Udinese secured an impressive 2-0 victory over Cagliari at the Unipol Domus.

Enyeama previously set the benchmark during the 2014/2015 season when he kept 17 clean sheets for Lille in Ligue 1. Okoye’s achievement has now reignited hope for Nigeria’s Super Eagles as the team continues its search for a reliable long-term first-choice goalkeeper.

The 26-year-old delivered a strong performance, making three crucial saves from five shots on target.

His defining moment came in the first half when he produced a superb full-stretch fingertip save to keep the score level, providing Udinese with the platform to take control of the match.

Adam Buksa opened the scoring in the 56th minute, while Idrissa Gueye sealed the victory deep into stoppage time in the 96th minute.

The win marked Udinese’s 14th league triumph of the season and moved the club up to ninth place in the Serie A standings.

Okoye’s latest clean sheet tally also equals his personal best from the 2020/2021 campaign with Sparta Rotterdam in the Dutch Eredivisie.

Since joining Udinese in 2022, the Nigerian shot-stopper has steadily rebuilt his reputation and established himself as a vital player for the club.

His impressive performances have reportedly drawn transfer interest from top clubs including Inter Milan, AC Milan, and Bournemouth ahead of the summer transfer window.

Nollywood actress and filmmaker Funke Akindele missed out on the Best Supporting Actress award at the 12th Africa Magic Viewers’ Choice Awards (AMVCA), losing to her colleague Linda Ejiofor for her performance in The Herd.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶

Reports indicate that Akindele, despite widespread expectations, left the ceremony without a win even though her film Behind the Scenes received four nominations across major categories.

The movie, which grossed over ₦2 billion at the box office, was nominated for Best Movie, Best Lead Actress, Best Supporting Actor, and Best Supporting Actress.

However, Ejiofor clinched the Best Supporting Actress award in a highly competitive category that included top stars, with Akindele also among the favourites due to strong online buzz surrounding her performance.

Other nominees in the category included Bisola Aiyeola (Gingerrr), Sola Sobowale (The Covenant), Nadia Dutch (Aljana), Amal Umar (The Herd), Juliebrenda Nyambura (MTV Shuga Mashariki), and Olamide Kidbaby (Oversabi Aunty).

Ejiofor’s winning role in The Herd saw her portray the wife of a kidnapped man played by Daniel Etim-Effiong in a socially driven satirical drama focused on insecurity and societal challenges in Nigeria.

Although The Herd had a modest box office performance compared to Behind the Scenes, it gained stronger traction on streaming platforms and secured multiple AMVCA nominations.

Ahead of the awards, Akindele had topped several online prediction polls, but the final decision rested with the AMVCA jury chaired by veteran actress Joke Silva.

In the Best Supporting Actor category, Bucci Franklin emerged winner for his role in To Kill A Monkey, beating nominees including Lateef Adedimeji, Gabriel Afolayan, Femi Adebayo, Femi Branch, Uzor Arukwe, and Simileoluwa Hassan.
