Outrage in Kaduna as Boy Faces Leg Amputation After Father’s Brutal Punishment

According to Rabi Salisu, the Commissioner for Human Services and Social Development, the young boy was subjected to gruesome punishment in Lere Local Government Area, where his father, Sani Tanimi Maishago, allegedly tied his legs and poured hot water on them as a form of discipline for stealing biscuits.
“The ministry received the report about nine days ago. By then, the child’s legs were already in a state of advanced decay, infested with maggots. Doctors advised amputation to prevent further complications and to save his life,” Salisu stated.
The Commissioner further disclosed that both the father and the boy’s stepmother locked Abubakar in a room for over 20 days without sufficient food or medical attention. The couple has since been arrested by the police, and legal proceedings will commence following the conclusion of investigations.
“We are committed to ensuring that justice is served in this case to deter future acts of child abuse,” she said.
She also used the occasion to urge parents and guardians to be cautious and patient in disciplining their children, stressing that excessive punishment can lead to irreversible damage.
Reaffirming the government’s dedication to child protection, Salisu emphasized that the welfare of every child remains a top priority for the Kaduna State Government. She assured that steps would be taken to secure justice for Abubakar and prevent similar incidents from recurring.
