This development comes shortly after the conclusion of an internal investigation into allegations of sexual misconduct previously raised against the VC by a senior university official, Engr. Folasade Adebayo. The Council, after reviewing the panel’s findings during an extraordinary session on April 8, 2025, confirmed that no formal complaint of harassment had been filed. This conclusion mirrored earlier findings from the Nigeria Police Force, which also found no evidence of wrongdoing.

Furthermore, the Council condemned Engr. Adebayo’s unauthorized recording of conversations with the VC, labeling the act as a violation of institutional protocols and a potential avenue for blackmail. Adebayo has since been instructed to tender a written apology and warned against further actions that could damage the university’s image.
