Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar has reaffirmed that forming a united opposition coalition remains the most viable strategy to unseat President Bola Tinubu in the 2027 general elections.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶

Speaking in response to a recent declaration by the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Governors’ Forum—led by Bauchi State Governor Bala Mohammed—Atiku emphasized that broader political collaboration is essential to present a formidable challenge to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).

The PDP governors, after a meeting in Ibadan on Monday, stated categorically that the party would not join any coalition or merger. However, they noted the party’s openness to welcoming individuals, parties, and groups who share the PDP’s mission of reclaiming power through its platform.

In a communiqué, Governor Mohammed clarified that while the PDP remains a strong opposition party, it prefers to pursue its objectives independently rather than through any alliance. He said, “The Forum resolved that the PDP will not join any coalition or merger, but remains open to those willing to join us in our mission to provide credible leadership in 2027.”

Responding through his media aide, Paul Ibe, Atiku expressed disappointment over the governors’ stance but insisted the movement for change is driven by the people. He described the coalition effort as a “pan-Nigerian project,” representing a grassroots-driven initiative to rescue the nation.

“At the start of this journey, we conducted internal polling that confirmed this was the path to take,” Atiku noted. “I believe this is just the beginning, and with time, alignments and realignments will happen. Some governors will eventually recognize the importance of this initiative.”

He stressed that the movement goes beyond political officeholders, adding, “This isn’t a setback—it’s an opportunity for dialogue. The project continues because Nigerians have taken ownership of it, and that’s what matters most.”

Atiku acknowledged the vital role of governors but reiterated that the support of everyday Nigerians is paramount in the quest to reform the country.

ADC chieftain and publisher, Dele Momodu, has dismissed calls for former Vice President Atiku Abubakar to withdraw from the 2027 presidential race, describing the push as unfair and politically motivated.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶

Momodu was reacting to comments by activist Zekeri Idris Jnr, a supporter of Peter Obi, who urged Atiku to step aside over concerns about his age, which would be about 80 by 2027.

In a post on his X handle on Saturday, Momodu said attention should be focused on holding the government accountable rather than targeting Atiku’s political ambition.

The exchange followed a viral video where Idris insisted that Atiku should support younger aspirants instead of contesting, arguing that voters would not back an elderly candidate.

Idris also suggested that Atiku should act as a statesman and support younger politicians such as Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso and others.

Responding, Momodu cited several world leaders who held office at advanced ages, arguing that experience should not be dismissed in leadership discussions.

He questioned what should disqualify Atiku from contesting, insisting that age alone is not a valid reason.
