Joe Igbokwe Warns of Serious Repercussions Over South-East Marginalisation

Joe Igbokwe, a prominent member of the All Progressives Congress (APC), has raised alarms over the ongoing marginalisation of the South-East region. He warned that the situation could lead to significant consequences for Nigeria if it persists.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶

Igbokwe expressed his concerns in a Facebook post on Saturday, amidst ongoing discussions about federal appointments made under President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration. The debate intensified following remarks from Senator Ali Ndume, who criticized the perceived imbalance in the allocation of federal positions, suggesting that the distribution was unfairly skewed.

While the presidency has defended its stance, claiming that appointments are based on merit, Igbokwe highlighted the risks of continued exclusion of the South-East. He reminded the public of the lingering scars from the civil war and the potential repercussions of ignoring the region’s importance.

He stated, “If Nigeria continues to treat the South-East as if it does not exist or does not matter, the consequences will be huge. The civil war has ended, but the scars are still there. Injustice anywhere is a threat to justice everywhere. Neglect of the South-East is bad.”

Igbokwe’s comments underscore the growing calls for a more inclusive approach to governance, one that ensures fair representation and fosters national unity. As President Tinubu’s administration continues to shape its legacy, the issue of equitable representation remains a pressing concern for many Nigerians.
