Dickson Urges Tinubu to Mediate Between Wike and Fubara Amid Rivers Political Crisis

In a statement issued on Friday, April 11, 2025, via his Facebook page following a meeting with Governor Fubara in Port Harcourt, Senator Dickson emphasized the urgent need for reconciliation and mutual understanding between the two key political figures for the sake of peace and stability in Rivers State.
The senator noted that their discussion centered around the recent intense political upheavals in the state. He urged President Tinubu to use his influence to guide both parties toward tolerance and compromise, stressing that such intervention was crucial for a swift resolution of the crisis.
Addressing the youth, especially those from the Ijaw ethnic group across the Niger Delta, Dickson appealed for calm and non-violence. He cautioned against any acts of vandalism or sabotage, particularly targeting vital oil and gas infrastructure, highlighting the environmental and economic damage such actions could inflict on the region and the nation at large.
Senator Dickson strongly refuted suggestions that the Ijaw Nation is in conflict with President Tinubu or the Federal Government over the political issues in Rivers State. Instead, he reaffirmed the region’s support for a united and equitable Nigeria, advocating for true federalism, environmental justice, and inclusive national development.
He praised the efforts of security agencies in maintaining peace and urged continued cooperation with local authorities and stakeholders to sustain stability across the Niger Delta.
Dickson also extended a word of caution to the appointed Sole Administrator, advising against decisions that could further erode public trust or hinder peaceful resolution efforts.
Highlighting the bond between Wike and Fubara, the senator reminded stakeholders that leadership demands patience and forgiveness, noting, “There are no perfect fathers and sons. We must manage our differences with wisdom.”
He concluded by calling on leaders at both state and national levels, particularly those from the Niger Delta, to actively contribute to resolving the conflict and restoring democratic governance in Rivers State.
