Six Nigerian States to Experience Heavy Rainfall for Three Days, NiMet Warns
The Nigerian Meteorological Agency (NiMet) has issued a warning about heavy rainfall expected to last for three days across six states in Nigeria. The forecast predicts moderate to heavy rainfall from Wednesday, April 9 to Friday, April 11, 2025.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶
The states affected by the heavy rainfall are Cross River, Akwa Ibom, Edo, Bayelsa, Delta, and Ogun. NiMet also highlighted the likelihood of flash floods in certain areas, due to the intensity of the rainfall.
Additionally, light to moderate rainfall is expected in Ondo, Lagos, Delta, Imo, Abia, Ekiti, and other states. Some areas across the country may experience very light rain or no rain during this period.
The agency has advised the public to be cautious of potential hazards, including slippery road surfaces, reduced visibility, and possible damage to weak structures, trees, and masts due to strong winds. NiMet also recommended that electrical appliances should be disconnected before the rains begin.
Drivers are urged to avoid traveling through surface runoff waters, as they may have strong undercurrents, and the agency emphasized the importance of staying informed and prepared for the adverse weather conditions.
