Deputy Speaker Kalu Decries Killing of Chinese Nationals, Police Escort in Abia

According to reports from the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), the victims were ambushed by unidentified gunmen while heading to a mining site located in Isuikwuato Local Government Area.
In a statement issued on Tuesday through his Chief Press Secretary, Chief Levinus Nwabughiogu, Kalu—who represents Bende Federal Constituency—expressed deep sorrow over the tragic incident. He extended heartfelt condolences to the bereaved families, the Nigeria Police Force, and the Abia State Government.
Kalu called for a comprehensive investigation into the attack, urging security operatives to swiftly apprehend the culprits and ensure they face justice. He emphasized that such acts of violence should not go unpunished.
Commending the bravery of police operatives who intervened and rescued surviving members of the Chinese delegation and their escorts, Kalu stressed that there is “no sanctuary for criminals in Abia or anywhere in Nigeria.”
He further appealed to the public to collaborate with law enforcement by sharing any useful information that could lead to the arrest of those behind the attack. Kalu also reiterated his commitment to supporting security agencies in their efforts to restore peace and uphold justice.
