APC Governors Meet with Buhari in Kaduna, Reaffirm Party Unity
Governors of the All Progressives Congress (APC) paid a courtesy visit to former President Muhammadu Buhari at his Kaduna residence on Monday. The delegation was led by Imo State Governor, Hope Uzodimma, who also serves as Chairman of the Progressive Governors Forum.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶
The meeting, which was held behind closed doors, aimed to check on Buhari’s well-being and to reiterate the governors’ continued loyalty and appreciation for his foundational role in establishing the APC. Speaking to the press after the visit, Uzodimma referred to Buhari as the “father of the APC,” emphasizing that the gesture was symbolic of the party’s ongoing unity and resilience, despite recent high-profile defections.
The visit comes in the wake of a significant wave of departures from the APC, including the defection of former Kaduna State Governor Nasir El-Rufai to the Social Democratic Party (SDP), reportedly with Buhari’s blessing. There are also reports that other former ministers under Buhari’s administration and APC members from Katsina State are planning or have already made similar moves to the SDP.
Uzodimma stressed that the visit was timely, coming after major religious celebrations—Ramadan, Lent, and Eid-el-Fitr—and was designed to send a message of strength and continuity within the ruling party.
“We came to Kaduna to visit our leader and former President Muhammadu Buhari. He remains the only president produced by the APC. We found him in good health and high spirits. He was pleased with our visit and expressed satisfaction with the current state of the party,” Uzodimma stated.
Kaduna State Governor Uba Sani also expressed gratitude to Buhari for his ongoing support for both President Bola Tinubu and the APC, reinforcing that the former president’s endorsement continues to hold significant weight within the party.
Despite internal tensions and realignments, APC leaders maintain that the party remains the dominant political force in the country, currently controlling 21 state governments.
