Police Nab Infamous Bandit Kingpin Abu Dankano in Katsina State

The arrest, which occurred on March 29, 2025, followed a complaint from the family of 25-year-old Badamasi Isiyaka, who was abducted on March 1. Renowned security analyst, Zagazola Makama, confirmed the arrest in a statement released on Sunday.
According to reports, the kidnappers contacted Isiyaka’s family two days after the abduction, demanding a ₦30 million ransom for his release.
In response, police launched a targeted operation that led to the arrest of 26-year-old Umar in the notorious Shimfida Forest, located in the Jibia Local Government Area of Katsina.
During interrogation, Umar confessed to orchestrating the kidnapping and admitted to having ties with other prominent bandit leaders, including Bello Turji, Dankarami, Na-Mardiyya, and Black.
Authorities successfully rescued the victim unharmed, and efforts are underway to track down the remaining members of the criminal network.
In a related development, security operatives in Benue State arrested three suspected members of a five-man kidnapping ring that has been terrorizing the Otukpo Local Government Area.
The suspects—identified as Ibrahim Salleh, Ashimu, and Abuh Umaru—were captured in a coordinated early morning raid on Sunday, April 6, 2025, in the Ogoli-Ugboju community. The operation was conducted in collaboration with local security agencies and led by Hon. Prince Maxwell Ogiri, the Executive Chairman of Otukpo LGA.
Hon. Ogiri praised the security forces for their swift action and reaffirmed the government’s commitment to rooting out criminal elements in the region. He noted that efforts are ongoing to apprehend the remaining two suspects and any local collaborators involved in the crime syndicate.
