One Dead, Two Injured as Container Falls on Seven Vehicles in Lagos
A tragic accident occurred along the Oshodi-Apapa Expressway in Lagos on April 5, 2025, when a truck carrying two containers lost control, resulting in the death of a pedestrian and injuries to two others. The crash involved a 40-foot articulated truck, five commercial buses, and two private vehicles. Preliminary investigations indicated that the truck’s brakes failed while traveling at high speed. The driver lost control, causing the containers to dislodge and fall onto the vehicles below, causing significant damage.
One pedestrian was confirmed dead, while five others, including a commercial bus driver who sustained multiple fractures, were injured. The injured were promptly transported to the General Hospital in Isolo for treatment.
LASTMA, in collaboration with LASEMA Response Unit, FRSC, and other responders, managed to extract the wounded and restore traffic flow on the busy highway. Security personnel were also deployed to ensure order during the emergency response.
LASTMA’s General Manager, Mr. Olalekan Bakare-Oki, extended condolences to the family of the deceased and wished the injured a speedy recovery.
