The first issuance of PAAR follows a strategic engagement between the Comptroller-General of Customs, Bashir Adewale Adeniyi, and the Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), Olayemi Cardoso. During the meeting, both institutions emphasized their commitment to improving trade processes, increasing revenue collection, and fostering financial integration.

The B’Odogwu system is an indigenous replacement for the Nigeria Integrated Customs Information System (NICIS II) and is designed to modernize customs operations. It will enhance efficiency in trade documentation and encourage stronger inter-agency collaboration. The pilot phase was successfully carried out at the Port and Terminal Multi-Services Limited (PTML) Customs Area Command, with active involvement from stakeholders, including other government agencies, ensuring a smooth transition.

According to the source, the twins maintained a daily routine of speaking around midnight, but the conversation took a sudden turn that night when unusual activity was noticed at the General’s end.

He said the line went dead abruptly after the General paused during the call, apparently due to the unfolding situation at the base.

The twin brother reportedly made repeated attempts to reconnect, sending messages and calling continuously, but received no response throughout the night.

“He kept trying until about 4 am, but there was no answer,” the source said.

The relative described the incident as devastating, noting that communication had broken down during the assault.

The late General was later buried alongside other fallen soldiers in Maiduguri, Borno State.
