The individual in question, identified as Hadaina Hussaini, also known as Dan-Taki, allegedly posted a Facebook comment in reaction to the recent killing of 16 individuals of Northern origin in Uromi, Edo State. In the post, he issued a retaliatory threat, vowing violent action against Southerners in the North.
Dan-Taki’s comment read:
“I swear to Almighty God, we must do something for you guys. Have you forgotten all your brothers living here in the North? Mark my words, in one week you shall see the result.”
Following public backlash, the suspect altered his Facebook name and restricted access to his account.
Police Clarification and Arrest
Responding to the incident, DSP Mansir Hassan, spokesperson for the Kaduna State Police Command, confirmed that Hussaini is not a serving officer of the Nigeria Police Force (NPF) nor affiliated with the Kaduna State Command.
However, Hassan acknowledged that the suspect once served as a voluntary member of the Police Special Constabulary, but was dismissed from the role two years ago due to misconduct and concerns over his character.
The official statement clarified:
“The suspect’s image circulating online, which shows him in an improperly worn police uniform, dates back to when he was part of the Police Special Constabulary attached to the Kaduna State Constabulary Office. His dismissal occurred two years ago, and the images being circulated were posted before that time.”
Authorities have since apprehended the suspect. He will face prosecution upon the conclusion of preliminary investigations.
Police Reaffirm Stance Against Hate Speech
The Kaduna Police Command reiterated the force’s dedication to maintaining peace, order, and national unity. It condemned any form of hate speech, incitement, or threats to public safety.
Commissioner of Police, CP Rabi’u Muhammad, psc, mni, urged the public to remain calm and continue to report any activities or comments capable of inciting unrest.
“The Nigeria Police Force remains a disciplined and professional institution. We will not tolerate actions that threaten the peace and unity of our country,” the statement concluded
