Seven Confirmed Dead, Others Injured In Lagos-Ibadan Expressway Crash
A fatal road accident occurred early Saturday morning near the NIPCO filling station along the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway, claiming the lives of at least seven people and leaving others critically injured.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶
The Ogun State Sector Command of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) confirmed the incident in a statement issued by its spokesperson, Florence Okpe, from Abeokuta.
According to the FRSC, the accident took place at approximately 7:00 a.m. and involved three vehicles: a Mack truck (registration number SEY 363 YY), a tanker (T2900LA), and a commercial bus (LSD 180 YA).
A total of 15 individuals were involved in the crash—13 men and two women. Of these, seven lost their lives, and four others sustained varying degrees of injuries.
Preliminary investigations attributed the accident to excessive speeding and a loss of control by the driver of the Mack truck, which led to a collision with the tanker and the bus.
Okpe stated that the injured victims were taken to Divine Touch Hospital and Glory Centre Hospital in Ibafo, while the bodies of the deceased were deposited at the Idera morgue in Sagamu.
Sector Commander Akinwumi Fasakin extended his condolences to the bereaved families and urged individuals whose loved ones may have been traveling in the area and are yet to be reached to contact the FRSC office in Ibafo for assistance.

He emphasized that local government chairmen would not allow facilities under their control to become security threats, even if other authorities prioritize political considerations over safety.
