The coalition of health unions, including the National Association of Nigerian Nurses and Midwives, the Medical and Health Union of Nigeria, and the Nigerian Union of Allied Health Professionals, expressed frustration over the state government’s failure to address their previous concerns, despite a prior 21-day ultimatum which expired on March 26, 2025.

In a letter addressed to the governor, the unions highlighted that no government officials had engaged in discussions regarding the unpaid salary structure, leading to financial hardship for their members. They warned that continued neglect could negatively impact both the well-being of the health workers and the quality of healthcare services in the state.

The coalition referenced Section 41 of the Trade Dispute Act in issuing the 15-day notice, stating that failure to address their concerns within the period would result in a withdrawal of services. The letter, dated March 27, 2025, was received by the Government House on March 28, 2025.
