Edo Guber Tribunal Verdict: PDP Denies Leaked Judgment as Okpebholo’s Fate Awaits

The Edo Governorship Election Petition Tribunal is set to deliver its verdict today, Wednesday, regarding the petition filed by the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and its candidate, Asue Ighodalo, challenging the outcome of last year’s gubernatorial election in the state.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶

The PDP and Ighodalo are contesting the declaration of Senator Monday Okpebholo from the All Progressives Congress (APC) as the winner of the September 21, 2024, election by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC). They argue that the election process was compromised by irregularities and non-compliance with electoral laws.

Following the adoption of final written addresses on March 3, the three-member tribunal, led by Justice Wilfred Kpochi, had reserved its judgment. However, on Tuesday, controversy arose as leaked copies of an alleged judgment, purportedly affirming Governor Okpebholo’s victory, surfaced online.

Reacting to the development, PDP’s National Publicity Secretary, Debo Ologunagba, refuted the credibility of the circulated document, stressing that it is premature to draw conclusions based on unverified online sources. Ologunagba urged caution, emphasizing that the party would await the official judgment before making any formal statement. He also expressed skepticism about the Nigerian judiciary’s credibility.

Meanwhile, Governor Monday Okpebholo, anticipating the tribunal’s decision, issued a message of peace and unity to his supporters and the people of Edo State. His Chief Press Secretary, Fred Itua, released a statement urging residents to remain calm and respect the judicial process. Okpebholo expressed confidence in the judiciary’s ability to deliver a fair and just ruling while emphasizing the importance of maintaining peace and fostering the state’s progress.

The governor reiterated his commitment to democracy, peace, and development, encouraging all to put aside political differences and prioritize the state’s collective well-being.

US-based Nigerian dancer and singer, Korra Obidi, has spoken about living conditions in Nigeria, saying many citizens are forced to take care of their basic needs due to limited government support.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶

reports that she made the remarks during a recent episode of the One 54 podcast, where she discussed her experiences and observations about the country.

According to her, Nigeria has significant advantages, including a large youthful population and rapid growth in sectors such as technology, but poor leadership has slowed overall development. She added that many people no longer depend on government services because they have learned to provide for themselves.

She explained that citizens often source their own water by digging wells and treating it for use, while also handling electricity challenges through generators or solar power systems. Korra noted that in many areas, individuals and families have built personal systems just to cope with daily life due to unreliable public infrastructure.

“Nigeria is blessed. It has no natural disasters. They have been predicting that the sea would flood Lagos but instead the sea is constantly being pushed back and people are building on the reclaimed land. Lagos is growing at astronomical rate,” she said.

“There are about 300 million people in Nigeria, majority of which are youths. There is so much potential in Nigeria. Tech is going crazy there. It is the government that is hindering a lot. Most people no longer care about the government.

“In Nigeria, you’re your own government. You make your own water, dig well and purify water for you and your people. You get your own electricity, you have your own solar or generator. You basically have your own ministry. Everybody has their own kingdoms and just trying to survive,” she added.
