Sani warned Governor Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq that the move could be counterproductive, stressing the need for caution in the use of political and legal powers.

The 2018 attack in Offa, Kwara State, involved raids on banks and a police station that left 33 people dead, including a pregnant woman and several police officers.

In September 2024, a High Court in Kwara convicted five persons for offences including armed robbery and culpable homicide in connection with the incident.

The state government recently filed a 20-count charge against Saraki and former governor Abdulfatah Ahmed, accusing them of allegedly providing support to those earlier convicted.

Saraki has dismissed the allegations, describing them as politically motivated.

Reacting on X, Sani appealed directly to the governor, advising him to drop the planned charges and cautioning against politicising the matter.

He also referenced his own past legal experiences, noting that power should be exercised carefully, and warning that “tomorrow is not far from today.”
