Leaders and indigenes of the Host Communities of Nigeria Producing Oil and Gas (HOSTCOM) have endorsed President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for a second term, arguing that his leadership is critical for Nigeria’s continued growth. At a news conference in Ajuba, Tamaranebi emphasized that while 2027 will present Nigerians with a choice between continuity and chaos, the path to prosperity and stability lies in supporting Tinubu’s ongoing initiatives. He highlighted the President’s strategic policies and reforms that have already begun reshaping Nigeria’s economic and political landscape.

Tampanebi further noted that under Tinubu’s leadership, there has been significant empowerment of local communities, a priority for HOSTCOM. He urged Nigerians to keep faith with Tinubu, emphasizing that true leadership requires vision, patience, and persistence, qualities that the President has consistently demonstrated.

Chief Government Ekpemupolo (Tompolo), the grand patron of HOSTCOM, also praised the President for his commitment to human development, aligning his support with that of the larger community.

With Tinubu’s leadership already making significant strides in reviving Nigeria’s economy, especially after the challenges of dwindling oil production and escalating debt, Tamaranebi stressed that the nation must consolidate the gains made rather than disrupt the progress. He concluded by asserting that Nigeria will be better in the years to come if the country stays the course set by President Tinubu.

The Strategic Push for an Opposition Coalition

Despite possessing what he considers the superior candidate, Baba-Ahmed explained why the party is actively championing a broader political alliance:

  • Consensus Over Ego: The PRP chairman emphasized that the party’s push for a mega-coalition is driven by consensus and constitutional processes rather than forcing Duke’s candidacy through on profile strength alone.

  • Defeating Fault Lines: Framing the 2027 election as a critical turning point for the nation, Baba-Ahmed noted that the stakes go far beyond individual party ambitions. The coalition aims to unite likeminded opposition forces to rescue Nigeria from its current trajectory and bridge its deep fault lines.
