The president made these remarks when he hosted FCT residents, led by the FCT Minister, Mr. Nyesom Wike, at the Presidential Villa, Abuja, during a Sallah visit.

President Tinubu noted that the bureaucratic challenges posed by the TSA had hindered infrastructure progress in the capital and emphasized that lifting the restrictions had led to significant advancements in the city. He mentioned that the FCT has witnessed improvements in its infrastructure, healthcare services, and security systems.

Reflecting on the initial discussions with the FCT minister, President Tinubu shared how Wike’s proposal for a TSA exemption had proven effective. He observed rapid changes, including the revitalization of rural areas, completion of previously abandoned projects, and the resumption of the vice president’s official residence, which had been left unfinished for years.

Under this new arrangement, the FCT also made strides in rehabilitating health centers, upgrading educational facilities, and providing essential resources like school furniture.

The president commended the FCT Minister for his proactive approach and efforts to restructure the public service, empowering civil servants to rise to leadership positions. He stressed that these transformative ideas have brought notable progress to the FCT, praising the minister’s initiative.

In his address, President Tinubu urged Nigerians to prioritize results over ethnic and religious considerations when choosing leaders. He pointed out that with improvements in security, food prices, and peace across the country, the focus should remain on tangible outcomes and quality leadership.

The FCT Minister, Mr. Wike, expressed his gratitude to President Tinubu for the opportunity to engage with the residents in person during the festive period. He reaffirmed his commitment to further developing the capital city and promised to complete numerous ongoing projects soon.

Key dignitaries at the event included Vice President Kashim Shettima, National Security Adviser Malam Nuhu Ribadu, and Minister of Information Alhaji Mohammed Idris, among others. The delegation also featured members of the National Assembly, religious leaders, security officials, and youth representatives.
