In a press conference held on Friday in Abuja, Nwaeke claimed that the level of misappropriation of public funds and assets during Fubara’s time in office was unprecedented. He emphasized that Rivers State had received the highest allocations in the last two years, making the scale of the alleged financial misconduct even more concerning.

Additionally, Nwaeke alleged that Fubara had instructed his Chief of Staff, Edison Ehie, to set fire to the Rivers State House of Assembly building. According to Nwaeke, he was present when a bag of money was handed over to Ehie for the operation, although he could not confirm the amount of money involved.

Governor Fubara has strongly denied the accusations, dismissing Nwaeke’s claims as false and stating that the former Head of Service had been “compromised” and coerced into making such statements.
