NDLEA Arrests Lekki and Italy-Based Businessmen for Drug Importation

The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) has apprehended Arokodare Damil Ebenezer, a Lekki-based businessman and owner of Damillionz Takeout, for importing 60 parcels of Loud, a potent cannabis strain, from the United States to Nigeria. The 43-year-old was arrested on Monday, March 24, 2025, at the Bay Lounge on Admiralty Way, Lekki, while awaiting the arrival of his latest drug consignment.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶

The arrest came after NDLEA operatives intercepted the cargo, which had arrived in Nigeria on March 12, contained in seven large cartons at a logistics firm in Lagos. A subsequent search of his residence revealed 94 grams of the same substance, a cannabis crusher, and other drug-related paraphernalia, bringing the total drug seizure to 32.24 kilograms. During interrogation, Ebenezer admitted to being involved in the drug trade since 2017.

In a separate operation, NDLEA officers at Murtala Muhammed International Airport, Ikeja, Lagos, intercepted Omoruyi Terry, an Italian-based businessman, attempting to export 1,400 tramadol pills (225mg) weighing 800 grams to Italy. Terry was detained at the Terminal 2 screening area while preparing to board a Qatar Airways flight. Investigations revealed that Terry, a frequent traveler, works as a logistics agent in Italy.

Further drug enforcement activities in Katsina led to the arrest of four suspects during a raid in Godai village, Daura LGA. Authorities recovered 684 compressed skunk blocks weighing 423 kilograms, along with 86,000 diazepam pills. Meanwhile, NDLEA operatives in Edo State destroyed 13,198 kilograms of cannabis sativa in multiple forest locations and seized 158 kilograms for legal action.

In Niger State, NDLEA intercepted a vehicle on the Mokwa-Jebba road containing 179 compressed skunk blocks, weighing 77.6 kilograms. Two suspects, Paul Christopher, 46, and Lucky Star Anumie, were arrested, while another 50 kilograms of skunk were recovered from a suspect’s residence in Borgu council area.

Other arrests and drug seizures occurred in Enugu, Kwara, and Oyo States, where significant quantities of cannabis and psychoactive substances were confiscated. The agency also intensified its War Against Drug Abuse (WADA) campaign nationwide, conducting sensitization lectures in educational institutions.

Commending the officers for their commitment to reducing drug supply and demand, NDLEA Chairman/CEO Brig. Gen. Mohamed Buba Marwa (Rtd) expressed gratitude and extended Eid-el-Fitr greetings to the staff and stakeholders, emphasizing the agency’s resolve to build a drug-free society.
