Fayose’s Brother Sues Wike’s Aide for ₦200 Billion Over Defamation

Prince Isaac Fayose, the younger brother of former Ekiti State Governor Ayodele Fayose, has filed a defamation lawsuit against Mr. Lere Olayinka, a prominent member of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and ex-media aide to Fayose. The lawsuit, filed at the High Court of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Abuja, stems from defamatory comments Olayinka allegedly made on social media platforms, including Facebook, Instagram, and X.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶

Olayinka, who currently holds the position of Senior Special Assistant on Public Communications and Social Media to FCT Minister Nyesom Wike, is accused of publishing a Facebook post where he made disparaging remarks about Prince Isaac Fayose’s health. The post included a claim that Fayose had health issues linked to substance abuse, advising him to seek regular medical checkups.

In response to the allegations, Isaac Fayose has vowed to pursue legal action, demanding evidence to support the claims. His lawsuit seeks several reliefs, including a declaration that the statements were false and defamatory, as well as a public apology to be published in major Nigerian newspapers. Fayose is also demanding ₦50 billion in exemplary damages, ₦50 billion in special damages, ₦100 billion in general damages for damage to his reputation, and ₦20 million in legal fees.

The case has been registered under the number FCT/HC/GAR//2025, with the court issuing a summons for Olayinka to respond within eight days. If he fails to do so, a judgment may be passed in his absence.
