Rivers Ex-HoS Nwaeke Debunks Kidnapping Claims, Reveals Location in Abuja
Former Rivers State Head of Service (HoS), George Nwaeke, has dismissed his wife’s claims of being kidnapped, stating that her allegations were influenced by misinformation. According to Nivo news, Nwaeke’s resignation followed his public accusations against Governor Sim Fubara, whom he blamed for the escalating crisis in Rivers State and alleged collaboration with militants to sabotage pipelines.
Following these accusations, Nwaeke’s wife declared him missing and suggested that he might have been kidnapped and forced to make the statements against the governor. In a phone conversation with Governor Fubara, she expressed concerns that her husband had been coerced into making the allegations.
However, Nwaeke refuted these claims, revealing that he is currently staying at the Transcorp Hilton Hotel in Abuja. He explained that he had traveled to Abuja from Port Harcourt to personally report himself and the issues affecting Rivers State to relevant security agencies.
In his statement, Nwaeke said:
“My name is Frank Nwaeke, and I’m in Transcorp in Abuja. I came here from Port Harcourt this morning to meet the security agencies to report myself and the events in Rivers State that are making me feel unwell. I resigned from my position as Head of Service on Monday due to the prevailing situation.”
Nwaeke further disclosed that after granting a press interview, he was surprised to see a video of his wife circulating online, in which she claimed that he had been kidnapped. He asserted that his wife had been misled and that a script had been prepared for her to allege his abduction.
“I want to clarify that I’m not kidnapped; I’m in Abuja, safe and sound. My wife does not know about my official matters, as we only discuss domestic or social issues. It appears they wrote a script for her, and she believed it,” he said.
Nwaeke emphasized that his decision to come to Abuja was to ensure his safety while reporting the situation to security agencies, as the city houses the headquarters of all relevant authorities. He reassured the public of his well-being and stated that he intends to visit the security agencies the following day.
