Kano Police Recover, Return ₦4.85 Million Kidnapping Ransom to Victim

The Kano State Police Command has recovered and returned ₦4,850,000 to a kidnapping victim following a successful operation that led to the arrest of five suspects. According to CP Ibrahim Adamu Bakori, the Commissioner of Police, the recovered funds were handed over to the victim through the Chairman of Gabasawa Local Government Area, Hon. The incident took place on March 8, 2025, when the victim, a resident of Zakirai in Gabasawa LGA, was kidnapped from his hometown. The kidnappers initially demanded ₦15 million as ransom. After a rigorous intelligence-driven operation, the police managed to rescue the victim on March 17 and apprehended the suspects involved.

During the handover ceremony, Hon. Sagir Usman Abubakar commended the Kano State Police for their swift and professional response. He urged continued collaboration between law enforcement agencies and the public to maintain safety.
