Esan Youths Urge Delegates and Party Leaders to Support Odianosen Okojie for Senate

A coalition of progressive Esan youths under the Esan Renaissance Movement (ERM) has called on party delegates, stakeholders, and the larger electorate to rally behind Hon. Prince Odianosen Okojie as the best choice for Edo Central Senatorial District. The group emphasized the need for equity, fairness, and competence in selecting the next senator, urging those with voting power to consider the interests of the people and the developmental strides already achieved.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶

In a statement issued in Uromi, the youth movement lamented the historical marginalization of Esan North-East in the representation of Edo Central at the Senate. They noted that while other local governments have had their turn in the Red Chamber, Esan North-East remains without a single opportunity—a situation they argue must be corrected in the spirit of justice and inclusion.

“For far too long, we have watched as other parts of Edo Central took their place at the Senate, while Esan North-East remained on the sidelines. If our leaders believe in fairness, now is the time to demonstrate it,” said Osayuki Omo-Ehi, a convener of the movement.

Beyond the argument for equitable representation, the group stressed that Hon. Prince Odianosen Okojie has demonstrated effective leadership and a deep commitment to grassroots development since his election into the House of Representatives.

“In less than two years at the National Assembly, Prince Okojie has initiated life-changing programs across Esanland. From empowering women and youths, facilitating scholarships, securing job placements, and improving rural infrastructure, his impact is undeniable,” noted Isimenmen  a youth leader in Irrua.

The group highlighted several of his key initiatives, including skill acquisition programs for young entrepreneurs, community electrification projects, support for small-scale businesses, and various social welfare interventions that have uplifted thousands of constituents.

The Esan Renaissance Movement urged party delegates and key political figures to make decisions that reflect the aspirations of the people, rather than personal interests.

“We are appealing to our delegates, party leaders, and the larger electorate to critically assess each aspirant’s contributions and potential. The facts speak for themselves—Prince Okojie is the right man for the job,” said Hon. Ainose Ebhiremen, a political analyst and former student leader.

The group further called on respected Esan elders, community leaders, and all well-meaning citizens to lend their voices in support of Okojie’s senatorial bid, describing it as an opportunity to strengthen Esan’s position in national politics.

As the APC senatorial primaries draw closer, the Esan Renaissance Movement reaffirmed its commitment to mobilizing grassroots support, emphasizing that silence is not an option in the face of a pivotal decision.

“We are at a defining moment in our history. If we want true progress for Esanland, we must act now. This is the time for unity, vision, and courage. We urge our delegates and electorates to choose a leader who has shown real dedication to our people,” the statement concluded.

With expectations rising ahead of the primaries, all eyes are now on the delegates and party stakeholders—will they prioritize fairness, performance, and the will of the people?

Only time will tell.

He warned against dragging the state into fresh tension, accusing the state government of attempting to revive old allegations for political advantage.

Adewara said the PDP would not remain silent while what he called “political narratives” are used to influence public perception around a tragic incident that claimed multiple lives in Offa in 2018.

He also urged residents, especially affected families, not to allow their pain to be used for political gains, insisting it is unjust to associate Saraki with the crime.
