Kanu emphasized that the coup, often labeled as an Igbo-led uprising, was unnecessary and inaccurately attributed to the Igbo ethnic group. He clarified that only two Igbos were involved among the plotters.

Ejimakor, via his X handle, expressed frustration over what he described as unjustified hatred that keeps Kanu in detention. He shared the list of individuals involved in the coup and their ethnicities to dispel misconceptions:

Ejimakor wrote:
“Out of 14 individuals, only two were Igbo. Yet, those perpetuating Igbophobia falsely labeled it an ‘Igbo coup.’ This baseless and harmful narrative contributes to the continued injustice faced by Mazi Nnamdi Kanu.”

Ejimakor added that Kanu remains committed to ensuring no Igbo person endures the hardships he has faced in detention. Kanu’s legal team pledged to address historical inaccuracies and hold accountable anyone spreading misinformation about the events of 1966.

In a separate matter, human rights lawyer Malcolm Omirhobo raised concerns regarding the rights of hunters from the North to operate in other states, particularly after the reported killing of Northern hunters in Edo State. Omirhobo questioned whether the hunters had the necessary licenses and if they adhered to the legal requirements for hunting in different states. He also pointed out the types of weapons they carried and their legal implications.
