Traders Protest In Ilorin Over Economic Hardship After Government’s Barricades Block Key Business Routes

Sources revealed that the attack was in retaliation for the recent death of a notorious terrorist leader, Kachalla Jafaru, who was killed in a military operation in Bilbis. Jafaru, known for masterminding kidnappings for ransom and instilling fear in local communities such as Hayin Gada and Kunchin Kalgo, was also the brother of Ado Aliero, a notorious bandit leader on Nigeria’s most-wanted list.
In response to Jafaru’s death, terrorists launched an attack on Bilbis, prompting security forces to engage in a counter-offensive around 11:30 a.m. A fierce gunfight ensued, lasting until 4:00 p.m. The joint forces successfully repelled the assault, killing several terrorists and wounding many others. Weapons and multiple motorcycles used by the attackers were also recovered.
Eyewitnesses reported seeing the bodies of five terrorists being transported on motorcycles, with one additional body and confiscated items in a vehicle.

The Allegation: The survivor, Malam Babawo Tudun Nasera—whose 17-year-old brother Salim was among the deceased—stated in a video that authorities wanted the miners to halt operations, but they continued working based on instructions allegedly given by Babangida.

The Arrest and Detention: Nasera explained that the miners went to the site to earn a living to feed their families before NSCDC personnel arrested them and held them in custody for three days, allegedly refusing release efforts.

Suspicious Circumstances: Raising questions about the sudden deaths, Nasera noted that the detainees had eaten well the day before, speculating that heat exposure or some form of administered substance may have been involved.
