Speaking during a Homily at a Special Memorial Church Service held in honor of victims of the December 21, 2024, palliative distribution stampede, Kaigama expressed optimism about the promises outlined in the President’s speech, calling them encouraging for Nigerians.
Reflecting on Tinubu’s pledge to reduce inflation from 34.6% to 15% and boost food production, Archbishop Kaigama said, “The New Year broadcast was heartwarming, wishing Nigerians happiness, prosperity, and good health. It was positive and uplifting.”
The Archbishop, however, emphasized the importance of translating these promises into concrete actions, saying, “It’s not just about delivering speeches but ensuring these commitments materialize. Let us pray and hope that these words are turned into reality.”
The memorial service also recalled the tragic stampede at Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Abuja, where at least 10 citizens lost their lives during a palliative distribution event.
