Rivers APC Refutes Claims Of Amaechi’s Involvement In Plot Against President Tinubu
The Rivers State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC), led by Emeka Beke, has dismissed reports suggesting that former Rivers State Governor Rotimi Amaechi is secretly working with former Vice President Atiku Abubakar and Governor Siminalayi Fubara to unseat President Bola Tinubu in the 2027 elections.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶
Earlier, the factional Publicity Secretary of the Rivers APC, Chibuike Ikenga, had accused Amaechi of conspiring with Atiku and collaborating with Fubara to destabilize the APC in Rivers State, alleging the use of the judiciary for such purposes.
In response, Darlington Nwauju, the Publicity Secretary under Beke’s leadership, branded Ikenga’s allegations as baseless and malicious, referring to them as mere “tales by moonlight.”
Nwauju accused Ikenga of attempting to tarnish Amaechi’s image and create discord between Fubara and President Tinubu, urging the public to disregard the unfounded claims.
He continued, “We’ve seen how political opportunists like Ikenga have previously resorted to blackmail for personal gain. Now, they’re spreading lies to seize control of our party in Rivers State. This is just another fabricated story to undermine our leaders.”
Nwauju further rejected Ikenga’s accusations, asserting that there was no truth to the claims of secret meetings involving Amaechi, Fubara, and Atiku to remove the current administration.
He concluded by reaffirming that the allegations were a malicious attempt to damage the reputation of Amaechi and sow division between Governor Fubara and the President.

The Allegation: The survivor, Malam Babawo Tudun Nasera—whose 17-year-old brother Salim was among the deceased—stated in a video that authorities wanted the miners to halt operations, but they continued working based on instructions allegedly given by Babangida.

The Arrest and Detention: Nasera explained that the miners went to the site to earn a living to feed their families before NSCDC personnel arrested them and held them in custody for three days, allegedly refusing release efforts.

Suspicious Circumstances: Raising questions about the sudden deaths, Nasera noted that the detainees had eaten well the day before, speculating that heat exposure or some form of administered substance may have been involved.
