Peter Obi, former presidential candidate of the Labour Party, has extended his congratulations to Azubuike Mbata, the newly elected president of Ohanaeze Ndigbo. In a statement issued on Sunday, the South East elder statesman emphasized that Mbata’s election reflected the confidence and trust the Ndigbo have in his leadership.
On behalf of his family and the Obidient movement, Obi congratulated Mbata and other newly elected officials, including Deputy President-General Prince Okey Nwadinobi and Secretary-General Emeka Sibeudu, wishing them success in their new roles.
“Their election to lead Ohanaeze Ndigbo highlights the hope placed in their leadership capabilities and their commitment to regional and national progress,” Obi said.
The former governor of Anambra State expressed hope that the new leadership would continue to work towards the unity and development of both the Igbo community and the nation at large.
