Labour Party Eyes Coalition To Challenge APC In 2027, Says Aguocha
A member of the House of Representatives, Obi Aguocha, has reaffirmed his commitment to the ideology of the 2023 Labour Party (LP) presidential candidate, Peter Obi, and Abia State Governor, Alex Otti. While emphasizing his allegiance to the party, Aguocha acknowledged Peter Obi’s right to engage anyone, including members of the All Progressives Congress (APC), to join the Labour Party and help unseat the current administration in the 2027 elections.
“He (Peter Obi) is free to talk to whoever he wants to bring into the Labour Party in order to wrest power from the APC and reset Nigeria,” Aguocha stated.
He also noted that APC members are dissatisfied with the current government, further stressing the need for a coalition to challenge the ruling party in the upcoming general elections.
“I am ideologically aligned with Peter Obi, Alex Otti, and the Labour Party,” Aguocha added. “Our goal is to take power from the APC and restore hope to Nigerians, ensuring better security and quality of life for all.”
Regarding the recent defection of five members, the lawmaker insisted that it doesn’t undermine the Labour Party’s potential as a beacon of hope for Nigeria.
Aguocha argued that, just like APC formed a coalition to oust the PDP, the Labour Party could form an alliance with other like-minded Nigerians committed to making meaningful changes in the country.

The Allegation: The survivor, Malam Babawo Tudun Nasera—whose 17-year-old brother Salim was among the deceased—stated in a video that authorities wanted the miners to halt operations, but they continued working based on instructions allegedly given by Babangida.

The Arrest and Detention: Nasera explained that the miners went to the site to earn a living to feed their families before NSCDC personnel arrested them and held them in custody for three days, allegedly refusing release efforts.

Suspicious Circumstances: Raising questions about the sudden deaths, Nasera noted that the detainees had eaten well the day before, speculating that heat exposure or some form of administered substance may have been involved.
