Blogger Arrested For Using Fake DSS Website To Scam Job Seekers

The Department of State Services (DSS) has arrested a 32-year-old blogger, Sylvester Victor Augustus, for allegedly replicating its official website to carry out a fraudulent recruitment scam.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶

The suspect, a content creator and University of Uyo graduate, was apprehended at his residence in Akpan Eno Street, Abak Local Government Area, Akwa Ibom State, on Thursday. According to the DSS, Augustus created a fake version of the official DSS website to advertise a bogus recruitment drive, luring unsuspecting individuals with the promise of job opportunities.

The scheme reportedly involved soliciting payments from job seekers under the guise of processing their applications. The DSS had previously issued a warning, declaring the recruitment announcement a scam and urging the public to disregard it.

A source within the DSS confirmed the arrest on Friday, stating that Augustus is currently in custody and will soon face legal action.

In other developments, the Nigeria Police Force has confirmed the arrest of one of its officers involved in a viral video showcasing naira abuse, with the sons of Lagos businessman Chief Rasaq Okoya. The police identified the officer and announced that he would face disciplinary measures for his unethical conduct, which contradicts the force’s values.
