PANDEF Calls For Restraint In Rivers As Peace Committee Seeks Political Reconciliation

In November 2024, PANDEF’s General Assembly established a seven-member peace committee chaired by former Akwa Ibom State Governor, Victor Attah, to address rising political tensions among current and former governors in the region.
PANDEF National Chairman, Ambassador Godknows Boladei Igali, praised the committee’s expertise and integrity, calling on all stakeholders to collaborate with the panel. He emphasized that the committee, comprising respected Nigerian elder statesmen, is committed to making personal sacrifices to address the political conflict in Rivers, which has been counterproductive.
Igali further called on stakeholders to avoid using social media to spread falsehoods or escalate tensions, stressing the need for restraint to help foster peace in the state and beyond.

“After 16 years of wearing the Nigeria jersey, representing my country and giving everything I had for this beautiful sport, I have made the very difficult decision to retire from international football… I gave this jersey my youth, my strength, my sweat, my tears, and my heart. And if I had to do it all over again, I would choose Nigeria every single time.”
She concluded her farewell message with deep appreciation, stating that she steps away from international duty carrying 86 total appearances, zero regrets, and boundless gratitude for her teammates, fans, and the nation.
