Governor Abiodun Declares Education Emergency, Boosts Ogun Teach Initiative
Ogun State Governor, Dapo Abiodun, has announced plans to expand the Ogun Teach initiative by increasing the number of teacher interns from 4,000 to 6,000. This move aims to address the teacher shortage and reduce the student-to-teacher ratio in the state.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶
Governor Abiodun made the announcement during a meeting with the management team of Teach For All and Teach For Nigeria, who were in the state for a retreat. He also revealed that the wages for Ogun Teach interns had been raised to N80,000.
“We recognized the gap in the teacher-to-student ratio and sought ways to rapidly recruit teachers within our budget,” he explained. “The Ogun Teach program has been highly successful, with 2,000 of the 4,000 interns already receiving permanent employment.”
The governor highlighted the administration’s efforts to address challenges in the education sector, including the Learners Identification Number and the Education Revitalization Agenda, aimed at improving the state’s education system. He expressed commitment to continuing to hire qualified Teach For Nigeria fellows.
Teach For Nigeria CEO, Mrs. Molade Adeniyi, praised the Ogun State Government for its support and collaboration, emphasizing the importance of access to quality education for all children.
