The villages, located near the Surame desert—an area known for harboring the Lakurawa terror group—suffered significant losses in the airstrike.
In a post on X, Atiku called the airstrike “an outrage that must be condemned in the strongest terms” and questioned whether lessons were being learned from previous incidents, such as the December 3, 2023 airstrike on a religious gathering at Tudun Biri near Kaduna, which resulted in many innocent lives being lost.
Atiku stressed the importance of precision and reliable intelligence in military operations, asserting that “the indiscriminate killing of innocent citizens can never be justified.”
He called for an end to the “tragic cycle of death” and urged the government to reflect on past mistakes. The PDP leader also extended his condolences to the families affected, saying, “May the souls of the departed rest in eternal peace.”
