Osadolor Criticizes FG’s ₦27bn Entitlement For Ex-Leaders, Calls For Investment In Social Causes
Timothy Osadolor, the Deputy National Youth Leader of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), has strongly criticized the Federal Government’s allocation of ₦27 billion for the entitlements of former presidents, vice presidents, heads of state, chiefs of staff, retired heads of service, and professors in the 2025 fiscal year.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶
The funds are set to benefit several former leaders, including Presidents Olusegun Obasanjo, Goodluck Jonathan, and Muhammadu Buhari, along with ex-vice presidents Atiku Abubakar, Namadi Sambo, and Prof. Yemi Osinbajo. Other beneficiaries include former military leaders such as Gen. Yakubu Gowon, Gen. Abdulsalami Abubakar, Ibrahim Babangida, and retired Chief of General Staff, Commodore Ebitu Ukiwe.
Osadolor argued that millions of Nigerians are in greater need of this money than the former leaders. He criticized the government, stating, “This government is so erratic and detached from public criticism, insensitive to the needs of the people, and lacking integrity.” He also pointed out that figures like Jonathan, Obasanjo, Atiku, and Babangida are all billionaires, suggesting that they do not require this allocation.
He proposed that President Tinubu should instead invest in social causes that would benefit the general population, such as food banks or healthcare institutions. “Our former leaders deserve comfort, but the priority should be ensuring that millions of Nigerians stay alive,” Osadolor said, stressing that leaders who can care for themselves should not take precedence over the needs of the population.
