Activist lawyer Deji Adeyanju has raised concerns about the lack of transparency in the legislative process regarding the passage of the 2025 budget, suggesting that some senators may not have access to the document before it becomes law.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶

Adeyanju made these remarks on Thursday, revealing that five senators had informed him they had not seen the previous budget before it was passed into law.

This concern comes after President Bola Tinubu’s presentation of the 2025 Appropriation Bill to a joint session of the National Assembly on Wednesday.

The 2025 fiscal plan, titled The Restoration Budget: Securing Peace, Rebuilding Prosperity, includes significant allocations: ₦4.91 trillion for Defence and Security, ₦4.06 trillion for infrastructure, ₦3.52 trillion for education, and ₦2.48 trillion for health.

Adeyanju emphasized the importance of thorough legislative scrutiny, stressing that lawmakers must carefully examine the budget before approving it.

The President’s budget proposal projects total expenditure of ₦47.9 trillion, with ₦15.81 trillion allocated for debt servicing and a revenue target of ₦34.82 trillion. Tinubu described the budget as a key effort to stabilize the economy and promote prosperity.

In a post on X (formerly Twitter), Adeyanju wrote, “Five senators told me they never saw the last budget despite several requests; it was passed into law at lightning speed. I’m certain senators won’t see this budget either, nor will they scrutinize it before it’s passed. This is how low we’ve sunk as a nation.”

According to the source, the twins maintained a daily routine of speaking around midnight, but the conversation took a sudden turn that night when unusual activity was noticed at the General’s end.

He said the line went dead abruptly after the General paused during the call, apparently due to the unfolding situation at the base.

The twin brother reportedly made repeated attempts to reconnect, sending messages and calling continuously, but received no response throughout the night.

“He kept trying until about 4 am, but there was no answer,” the source said.

The family later confirmed the tragedy after a senior military officer contacted them around 6:30 am, informing them that the base had come under attack and that the Brigade Commander was among those killed.

The relative described the incident as devastating, noting that communication had broken down during the assault.

The late General was later buried alongside other fallen soldiers in Maiduguri, Borno State.

He wrote, “Chiemeka Chibuzor’s wedding is hereby suspended. More than a thousand applications. No more wedding pending further directive from me.”
