Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar has congratulated Mohammed Indimi, Chairman of Oriental Energy Resources (OER), on the successful completion and commissioning of the Floating Production Storage and Offloading (FPSO) vessel/platform for the Okwok Field in Dubai.

In a statement issued by his spokesman, Paul Ibe, in Abuja on Wednesday, Atiku called the commissioning of the FPSO one of the most positive developments in Nigeria’s upstream oil sector in recent times.

He highlighted that the FPSO’s deployment at the Okwok field would significantly increase Nigeria’s crude oil production, supporting the government’s efforts to boost revenue and drive economic growth.

Atiku also praised the achievement as a milestone for indigenous Nigerian companies, noting that this is the first FPSO fully funded by a local Nigerian firm. He emphasized that this accomplishment demonstrates the growing capabilities of Nigerian companies in executing complex projects in the oil industry.

He further pointed out that this landmark development would enhance economic growth, create job opportunities, and contribute to the steady development of Nigeria’s oil sector and broader economy.

Atiku also acknowledged Indimi’s long-standing belief in the potential of Nigeria’s oil and gas industry and his vision for establishing Oriental Energy as a key player in the nation’s upstream oil business.

The FPSO, with a production capacity of 40,000 barrels per day, was built by Singaporean firm HBA Future Energy and will sail to Nigerian waters in February 2025 for installation at the Okwok Oil Field. The field, discovered by ExxonMobil in 1967, is located in Oil Mining Lease (OML) 67, with estimated recoverable reserves of 45 million barrels. Production is set to begin in the first half of 2025, following an ongoing multi-well drilling campaign initiated in October 2023.

Barely a year after its inauguration in Akwa Ibom State, the African Democratic Congress (ADC) has been plunged into a deep factional crisis.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶

Multiple factions are now locked in a struggle for control of the party, leaving members uncertain about the legitimate leadership structure.

One faction is led by John Akpanudodehe, a former National Secretary of the All Progressives Congress (APC), while another is headed by the embattled state chairman, Dick Duke.

Although the leader of a third faction could not be immediately confirmed, findings indicate that another group also exists within the party.

Sources further suggest that the Akpanudodehe-led faction is seeking to remove the current chairman through a recently held congress that has sparked controversy.

In response, Dick Duke convened a stakeholders’ meeting over the weekend, where he rejected the legitimacy of the said congress.

He said the party had formally written to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to distance itself from the exercise, citing a subsisting court order.

According to him, his tenure as state chairman is still valid until May, and any congress conducted before then would be unlawful.

Duke added that the party would only proceed with proper congresses after the expiration of his tenure and the resolution of legal issues, in line with due process.
