Man United’s January Push For Osimhen Faces Competition From PSG And Chelsea

Published

Manchester United has reportedly made a fresh move to secure Super Eagles striker Victor Osimhen as they search for a replacement for underperforming forwards Marcus Rashford and Joshua Zirkzee.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶

Sources suggest that the Red Devils’ interest in the Nigerian international follows a strong endorsement from newly appointed manager Ruben Amorim, who notably left both Rashford and Alejandro Garnacho out of his squad for the recent Manchester derby.

The 25-year-old, currently on loan at Galatasaray from Napoli, has been in exceptional form, scoring 10 goals and providing 5 assists in 13 matches this season.

However, Juventus is said to be leading the race to sign Osimhen, with the Serie A club looking to replace Dusan Vlahovic. Reports suggest the Nigerian striker may prefer returning to Italy, where he has previously thrived.

Manchester United is also facing stiff competition from Premier League rival Arsenal, with former midfielder Emmanuel Petit urging the Gunners to make a move for Osimhen in the January transfer window.

The situation is complicated by Osimhen’s €75 million release clause, with Napoli’s director Giovanni Manna recently dismissing rumors of a January transfer, stating that no talks have taken place.

Paris Saint-Germain is also monitoring the situation, potentially targeting Osimhen should Marcus Rashford make a move to the French club.

Chelsea has also entered the race for the Nigerian forward, with reports suggesting their progress might make them a more appealing destination than United.

Osimhen’s loan with Galatasaray includes a break clause for January, adding further uncertainty as multiple top European clubs vie for his signature.

Military and security officials in Benin Republic have apprehended approximately a dozen soldiers, including the key ringleaders, following a failed coup attempt. The arrests came after a group of officers, calling themselves the Military Committee for Refoundation, appeared on national television on Sunday morning, claiming to have removed President Patrice Talon and dissolved all state institutions. The officers asserted that they had seized control of the government.

The presidency, however, confirmed that President Talon is safe and that loyalist forces are restoring order. Authorities described the coup attempt as the work of “a small group” with limited reach, adding that the city and the country remain secure.

Regional bloc ECOWAS has condemned the attempted takeover, describing it as a serious and unacceptable challenge to the democratic will of the people. In a statement issued in Abuja, the Commission called for strict adherence to the country’s Constitution and praised the efforts of the government and the Republican Army in regaining control. ECOWAS warned that the plot’s leaders would be held accountable for any loss of life or property arising from their actions and reaffirmed its full support for Benin, including potential deployment of the regional standby force if necessary.

He said, “Most of the answers I’m going to give tonight are not just based on my deliberations with Atiku, they are based on my desire for a better Nigeria. At the end of the day, if Nigeria is better, my life is better and easier as a Nigerian. So I only find myself with Atiku; in 2015, I didn’t find myself with Atiku, I found myself on the side of Goodluck Jonathan.”
