The union, representing workers including the Nigeria Union of Local Government Employees (NULGE), the Medical and Health Workers Union of Nigeria (MHWUN), and the National Association of Nigeria Nurses and Midwives (NANNM), urged Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq to take immediate action to resolve the issue.

The NLC warned that if the salaries are not paid by Thursday, December 19, 2024, it would invoke relevant labour laws to trigger a statewide strike. The union also emphasized that it would not accept the payment of December salaries unless the November wages are fully cleared.

While acknowledging the government’s past efforts to prioritize workers’ welfare, the NLC stressed that timely salary payments are essential for employee well-being and economic stability in the state.
