Fulham’s manager, Marco Silva, acknowledged Iwobi’s vital role in the victory. The winger capitalized on a mistake by goalkeeper Bart Verbruggen to score the opening goal and rounded off a stellar night with another late goal.

“Alex has been outstanding since pre-season,” Silva told the BBC. “His mindset is positive, and he continues to exhibit his incredible skills on the pitch. Last season marked a turning point for him in the Premier League, and I mentioned a couple of months ago that I expected him to elevate his game even further this season.

“He’s incredibly adaptable, allowing me to utilize him in multiple roles. His ability to both assist and score is more pronounced than ever. It was a remarkable performance, and he truly deserves all the praise.”

The PDP explained that its Disciplinary Committee had earlier recommended his expulsion over alleged anti-party activities, a decision later approved by the party leadership.

Although Anyanwu has appealed the judgment, the party argued that the appeal does not suspend the ruling, insisting it remains valid until overturned by a higher court.

The PDP faulted INEC for continuing to recognise him, describing it as contrary to the court’s decision, and urged the commission to remove his name from all official records and cease further dealings with him as National Secretary.

It warned that failure to comply could lead to legal consequences, including contempt proceedings, while urging INEC to act promptly to avoid further controversy.

AON said the meeting will provide an opportunity for stakeholders to address concerns, particularly the rising cost of Jet A1 fuel, with the aim of reaching a “win-win” solution.

However, the association stressed that the suspension is temporary and conditional, urging relevant government agencies and service providers to continue offering services without harassment or excessive financial demands on airlines.

It also called for an end to the practice of requiring upfront payments for services, saying it places additional strain on already struggling operators.

AON reaffirmed that it respects government intervention but will review its position after the scheduled meeting before taking further decisions.
