The cleanup, which began on Thursday, was extended to an illegal dumping site at the Ginger Samuel Amanaha Mini Stadium in Amapu Ntigha.

Jonah revealed that the traditional ruler of Isiala Amapu Ntigha, Eze Jacob Akoma, had formally requested the state government’s urgent action to address the situation, which led to Governor Alex Otti approving the evacuation plan.

To facilitate the cleanup, some market stalls will be demolished to allow for proper waste removal. Jonah also urged residents to properly bag their waste, as the newly established environmental court is ready to prosecute offenders, including those disposing of waste illegally.

Eze Jacob Akoma, the traditional ruler, expressed gratitude for the government’s intervention, calling the cleanup one of the community’s most significant benefits. He explained that the refuse had been accumulating for over 15 years without action from previous administrations, which had only imposed fees while providing inadequate waste management solutions.
