Oyo APC Vows Comeback, Aims to Unseat PDP In 2027 Elections
The Oyo State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has announced its determination to retake power from the ruling Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the 2027 gubernatorial election.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶
Acting APC chairman in Oyo, Alhaji Olayide Abas, made this assertion on Wednesday in Ibadan, the state capital, affirming the party’s readiness for the upcoming political challenge.
The PDP’s Seyi Makinde previously defeated APC’s Adebayo Adelabu in the 2019 election and secured a second term in 2023 by defeating APC’s Teslim Folarin and other candidates.
Abas, speaking to party leaders from six local government councils in Ibadan’s Outer City Zone, declared that the APC is set to reclaim the Agodi Government House. He expressed confidence that the APC will regain power in Oyo State, assuring party members of the party’s unity and focus.
“With the influential leaders supporting us and the messages shared today, I am pleased to say that our party is well-prepared for the challenges ahead. We will leave no stone unturned to ensure APC returns to power in Oyo State in 2027,” Abas said.
He further noted that the APC has welcomed back many former members who had left before the last general election, with new members from other parties, including the ruling PDP, joining the APC.
Last week, hundreds of former PDP leaders from Ibadan North formally joined the APC, and Abas indicated that more defections are expected. “We are working tirelessly to cement APC’s status as the party to beat in Oyo State,” he added.
