Ned Nwoko Laments Delta State Governance
The lawmaker representing Delta North senatorial district, Senator Ned Nwoko, has voiced concerns over unmet expectations from the Delta State government, revealing mounting pressure from constituents who feel underserved.

During the interview, Nwoko urged the federal government to protect local refineries by prohibiting the importation of refined products.
Nwoko also renewed his call for the creation of an additional state in the South East, noting that the region’s five-state structure has led to long-standing calls for more equitable representation and development.
Nwoko said, “It’s very simple. Before I go to the public with this to say the state is owing hundreds of billions of naira and was able to pay less than about N200 billion out of it. It is in the public and everybody knows.
“His (the governor’s) media people have gone out to say this anyway that the state has a huge debt profile and that they are paying so much, but that is not my problem because every government can borrow if they have such revenue every month from the federation account and so much goes to the servicing of this loan.
“It does not stop them from borrowing to meet the needs of the people. How can I explain to my people ‘sorry we can’t do the road for you because the government is paying debts incurred by the previous government? Is that an explanation? I am under pressure from my people.”
Nigeria’s Minister of Regional Development, Engr. Reflecting on her departure from the national team, Ohale shared an emotional statement on Instagram:
“After 16 years of wearing the Nigeria jersey, representing my country and giving everything I had for this beautiful sport, I have made the very difficult decision to retire from international football… I gave this jersey my youth, my strength, my sweat, my tears, and my heart. And if I had to do it all over again, I would choose Nigeria every single time.”
She concluded her farewell message with deep appreciation, stating that she steps away from international duty carrying 86 total appearances, zero regrets, and boundless gratitude for her teammates, fans, and the nation.
Joining the global wave of recognition, CAF honored her monumental impact on African women’s football via social media, writing:
“Five WAFCON titles. One immortal legacy. Thank you Ohale for every battle, every trophy and every memory.”
