Ondo guber: Monarchs cry out to PDP candidate over sea incursion

THE Igbinbou of Ajapa Kingdom, in Ese Odo Local Government Area of Ondo State, Oba Godwin Aboyewa, has pleaded with the People’s Democratic Party, PDP, candidate, Agboola Ajayi, to assist in the reclamation of Ayetoro Community, in Ilaje LGA, from sea incursion threatening the existence of the ancient town. He said: “If the Ayetoro Community is not saved from total extinction, Ajapa Kingdom might be at risk of a rapacious effect of its extinction.” The traditional ruler listed other needs of the community to include portable water and qualitative and affordable education.

Aboyewa who prayed for Ajayi’s success in the election, however, urged him to always give back to the community, if elected.

Responding , Ajayi assured the monarch that the Ayetoro Community would be saved from extinction, if he becomes governor of Ondo State.

“I want to appreciate the brotherly love you have displayed here today. You want us to save the Ayetoro Community from total extinction. I can assure you, if we get to office by next February, we would chase the sea away from Ayetoro Community by at least 2 kilometers. It is something we are prepared to do,” he assured.

In a statement issued in Abuja, the Commission called for strict adherence to the country’s Constitution and praised the efforts of the government and the Republican Army in regaining control. ECOWAS warned that the plot’s leaders would be held accountable for any loss of life or property arising from their actions and reaffirmed its full support for Benin, including potential deployment of the regional standby force if necessary.
